More Patlabor Mobile Police stories.

In particular, these take place in between the two Patlabor movies. While this series does not appear to be as strong as the other series and movies, these stories do tell more of the past of the various persons in the SV2 division.

The first story arc features Bado, Noe's little brother, as a rogue Labor [Mecha] operator. His main goal in life is to beat his big sister in a Labor [Mecha] duel, or at the very least to show off to her.

The second volume does not have a threaded story arc, but is rather a set of comical stories. Black Trinary, in particular, has an "in reference", with one of the persons called #13. This is a reference to the main character in The Professional - Golgo 13. Except this time, the assassin may have met his match in Ohta.

Like the second volume, the third volume does not have a threaded story arc. The Seven Days of Fire is a rather strange parody which features "look alikes" of the Nazi SS as well as other political ideas. It's called Amnesia might be a play on the Anime movie A Wind named Amnesia. In this episode, Ohta [naturally] is knocked on the head and passes out. This gives some of the other members of SV2 the chance to play a rather nasty practical joke on him. They set things up so that all of them appear to have been killed by Ohta. This all would have worked wonderfully, except that the knock on the head causes Ohta to have temporary amnesia and runs off thinking he was a murderer.

The first two stories on the fourth volume are people stories. The first, The Day Goma Came in from the Rain, is possibly a little too sweet, however. The third story reminded me a little of the movie Aliens when some of the members of SV2 end up in the sewers.

The fifth volume features a couple of people stories in Snow Rondo and All Quite at the Second Unit with little mecha action. The third story, The Girl Who Came From the Stars is a fairly silly story, which features Noe as a superhero named Ingraman.

U.S. Manga Corps. has decided to reorder some of the episodes. In paticular, the Griffon story arc, the first volume, is really episodes 1, 3, 5 and 7 and volume 2 is really episodes 2, 4, and 6. The rest of the episodes are presented in order.

This is a fairly decent series, with the same general flavor as the original Patlabor series.
