The Kagato issue has been resolved and Tenchi and in the Masaki household things sort of return to a state of normal. At this time, a young relative comes to visit. A baby named Taro, in fact. This poses some issues, not the least of which is that no one seems to have any experience with babies, all the girls included.

However, a surprise awaits. It seems that Washu, some 20,000 years ago, had a child and a husband. However, he was from a rich family and she was not, so they were taken from her. Nonetheless, her experience and compassion have not really faded all of these years.

The second OAV series runs from episode 8 to 13. All the episodes tell the backgrounds of the various members in the story. Some of the stories are sad, others humorous and some are down right odd.

In episode 9, it seems that Sasami died when she was younger and the first great Royal Jurai Tree, Tsunami, merged with her. So, it appears that Sasami is becoming Tsunami is becoming Sasami. Or something like that.

Insight into the origins of Ryo-ohki is given in episode 10. She was made of MASU, a fundamental collective form of life that can assume forms depending on who is in control. At the end of the episode, it is Ryo-ohki who becomes their controller, and another young lady, of sorts, appears in the household.

Episodes 11 and 12 are almost a sub story. Another Really Powerful alien shows up and kidnaps Ryoko. The nasty this time is named Doctor Clay, and is a rival to Washu. We also meet an android named Zero. Zero can assume the form of anyone. She is ordered to be a doppelganger of Ryoko, but she does this too well, and experience attraction and love for Tenchi. In the end, Zero does not wish to give up her role as Ryoko, so Washu arranges for the two Ryoko's to merge. Neither are lost, and both are changed. We also get to see the powerful Lady Tokimi, a being for which there are no words.

It is Grandpas turn in episode 13, when his mother and others from the Royal House of Jurai turn up, including Sasami and Ayeka's mother. It is slightly touchy, as many issues have been brought up which disturb the Royal Jurai house. There is also the fact that Sasami and Ayeka do not really want to leave Earth. In the end, Tenchi is called upon to challenge a dandy of a champion so the girls can stay. However, he is beaten to the task when Mihoshi drops in.

The second OAV series is perhaps closer to the T.V. series, as it is a lot more introspective then the first series. It is a decent sequel with slightly better animation.
